These parts are based on the article in MEW by Tony Jeffree in 2006. His transcript of the articles can be found on his site. There are now a number of additional options over the original design with two versions of the 2 by 16 line code. The Simple version just provides a speed display, while the Max/Min version includes a maximum and minimum value which can be reset to the current speed by the use of a push switch which is wired to CON5. Update - There had been a problem with supplies of the sensors for the project since RoHS rules came in. We have managed to source two Kingsbright parts which fit the bill nicely and only require a change of R7 to 4k7 ohm. Data sheets can be found in the archive.
